I suggest that the fog in caves be used to cap render distance to a certain value, similar to the Nether. Currently, caves look odd on a render distance of 24 under default scale values, as you can easily see the stone walls at the borders of the cave even when deep into it. This issue does not occur as often on a render distance of 12.
