HI all,

I am running powertest with hive engine and see this error.

parse error: Invalid numeric literal at line 1, column 5

I am trying to run this on HDI cluster.

Is there something I am missing ?

@nakhanha it looks like you don't have bash 4 in your system, can you try: echo $BASH_VERSION check if that is the case?

Your error message looks like it comes from the command line JSON tool jq. jq is used to extract some information from a file called globals.out (see the function hdi-import2db.sh in /shell/hdinsight/hdi-import2db.sh).

I'm just guessing, but I suspect that the fifth character on the first line of globals.out is where you have an "invalid numeric literal", which is basically any plain value outside of double quotes that cannot be parsed as a number.

Perhaps you could test this theory out by checking the first line of globals.out and/or by adding some debugging statements to that function, to see at which point the error occurs.

I think the file gets removed during post-execution cleanup, so maybe you can add a debugging statement to the function I mentioned before to do e.g. head -n 5 globals.out (unless @npoggi has any better ideas?)

@nakhanha @fenech if you run the benchmarks with the -N flag it will skip the post-execution cleanup so that you can review the files.
