Automatic Updating

The programs should be able to automatically update itself once a new release is published. Solution pending.

While it would be much easier just to have the program check a webserver somewhere in the sky. I feel it would be much more effect to have the program check GitHub directly.

• Some notes on how to do this:

1. You can use git to dump the short version of the hash:

> git rev-parse --short HEAD
bacba01

2. You can pass variables to qMake
3. You can pass variables to the compiler using qMake for compile time variables.

• How to:

1. Add this line to the .pro file:

CHASH=$$system( git rev-parse --short HEAD)
message(Hash: ($$CHASH))
DEFINES += CHASH=($$CHASH)

Most recent version of dev-cpp is capable of embedding the shortened git hash into the code at compile time. All that's left is to write a routine and get a library to download the newest release if available.

The downloading portion can be accomplished using http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qnetworkaccessmanager.html#details .
This is best probably done usually the following logic:

1. Download the html page for releases into memory
2. Check if there is a newer executable available and isolate the download url
3. Rename original exe to something else
4. Download the newest version
5. Startup newest version which checks for old exe, if found kills and deletes it.
