The guide steps for installing an older version of mac did not work for me at Tahoe. It doesn't take into account that the old installer itself doesn't even launch on a newer macos. The working way is to:
- Create an APFS volume for the new installation and another partition with Mac OS Extended (Journaled) filesystem with 16-30 Gigs capacity.
- Then use /Applications/Install macOS [version].app/Content/Resources/createinstallmedia to create a virtual install media.
- Then boot into it from the boot options and connect wifi and enter password for the main installation admin and then it will install into the new volume.
This worked for me for installing 14.8.3 at 26.6 Tahoe. I can open a PR if needed.
