Azure Account extension that the Azure Terraform extension depends on for authentication will be deprecated in January 2025. Please see microsoft/vscode-azure-account#964 for more details and migration guidance.

After taking a look at the extension, I believe it only relies on Azure Account only for the Cloud Shell feature. Please let me know if this is inaccurate. We've migrated the Cloud Shell feature to the Azure Resources extension (see https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-azureresourcegroups/releases/tag/v0.9.0 for more details). We haven't yet migrated the API portion, only the user facing portion. Once we do, we'll let you know and you can migrate to it. Our plan is to make the migration pretty smooth for the Cloud Shell API.

Bumping this issue as the Azure Account extension is now deprecated. I am unable to disable or uninstall it without also removing this extension.

Hi all,

Just a heads-up that we've updated the extension to version 0.3.3. In this update, we've removed the dependency on Azure Account.

However, this means that features that were using Azure Account, like running Terraform commands in CloudShell, are temporarily unavailable. We're working on bringing these features back as soon as the Azure Account API migration is finished.
