Stop the use of twitter.com linking

Please, just include the statement of the dev as text in the repo or link to the ORIGINAL statement instead of linking it all to your twitter....

I do not see a single reason to not do this, so please, remove it. Pointless and seems like bad practice.

It is disrespect full towards the developers of said distro's, and just completely not needed. There are 0 excuses to not do this. It is like a middle finger to them, or just using this whole age verification thing to bring traffic to your own twitter.

Dont abuse it, remove twitter links, remove your lunkduke stuff, add original dev statement either as link or text. simple as that.

I agree. Whenever possible, link to the direct source as well as the Twitter post, since some devs do post their announcements outside of Twitter. I am fine with both links, but I wished he would link it directly as well.

I definitely relate to that. I don't want to allow twitter to run javascript on my browser but for whatever reason I need to do that to just see pictures of forums. If you still want to hold pictures, why not upload them to the repo?

There are a few Firefox addons that redirect to a nitter instance. I use nitter for reading twitter.

well if he wanted to preserve, why not as plain text in this repo? why in twitter? what if those statements are updated by the devs of those distros? does mr lunkduke check that out and update his twitter? i do not think so.

this whole repo is just click bait to his twitter used for self promotion and there fore abusing this whole situation.

As an additional note, Nitter (instance 1, 2) can be used to view X/Twitter URLs without the bloated non-free scripts, and usually mirror media too for privacy reasons. As the original author of the repo is very much a Twitter/X user, it is unreasonable to expect him to link to a mirror.

Some addons/userscripts like LibRedirect do this automatically, which helps a lot too.

As this is both an reference and a changing environment, is there a good reason not to include an archive.org and archive.today link in addition to the original source? archive.org seems to have issues with X links though it works on twitter.com by retrieving a json and processing it, but archive.org is more authoritative, so it should be preferred whenever possible. For example:

Many of these statements are to @BryanLunduke directly, so he is the source of his own reporting. Any official statements should be posted similarly on IA and AT for the purpose of archiving this whole effect. This list and/or statemnents made by entities may get cited in cases pushing back against these laws and the Internet Archive has been used as evidence is many legal cases over the years. Even if the statements are support or detracting from someone's favorite side, having a solid record is always the start of a good strategy.

Not against the idea, but usually it should be enough to make a snapshot on IA/AT and leave this list as-is. If anything gets altered, there would remain a record of previous versions if they have been archived.
