Given how small of a thing/issue this is adding another setting for this is probably a bit much. However if there is a different solution like maybe adding it to the top left corner. Or maybe making the play button transparent when the player overlay is not visible. Something like that could work? |

@PartyDonut Moving the icon to the top left: 1.mp4It conflicts with the overlay so it needs to be hidden on mouse over. Also means it's no longer a button. It slightly bothers me that it 1) still partially blocks the content depending on the aspect ratio and 2) breaks the feng shui of the UX, but I'm mostly fine with this since it's at least not blocking the focal point. Non-persistent popup: 2.mp4Similar to the behavior of the youtube player. This is my preference but I'm guessing some people want the icon to be persistent. IMO might be better off just putting this behind an option, up to you. Let me know what you think. |

Summary
Often when pausing video I am wanting to inspect the frame, so the persistent play icon in the middle of the screen on desktop is a little annoying. It's almost always apparent that the content is paused without it so I don't see the need for it.
EDIT: I see there is a closed PR related to this (#754). I'd at least like this behind an option.
