Motivation
Procrastinators and goal-setters often tie their entire motivation to one metric (weight, revenue, a grade). When that number stalls — even if they're making real progress — they feel like failures and quit. The Sentry Agent counters this by celebrating Non-Scale Victories (NSVs): measurable progress that doesn't show up on the main KPI.
This feature is inspired by the fitness industry concept of NSVs — but generalized for any goal type SpurTalk supports (projects, habits, learning, health).
Proposed Behavior
- Sentry Agent monitors sprint progress and detects momentum moments:
- Completed 3 workouts in a row for the first time in 6 weeks
- Said "no" to a distraction that normally derails you
- Completed a sub-task you've been avoiding for 10+ days
- Hit a streak milestone
- When an NSV is detected, the Sentry Agent:
- Sends a celebration message (personalized, not generic)
- Logs the NSV to a "Wins Archive" that the user can review
- Ties the win to the underlying behavior (not just the outcome)
- NSVs are surfaced in the dashboard as a separate feed — decoupled from the main KPI chart
- The user can also manually log an NSV
Why This Fits SpurTalk
Our target audience (procrastinators) is especially prone to all-or-nothing thinking. If they don't hit their main metric, they feel like the whole effort is pointless. NSV tracking reframes their identity: they're someone who makes progress, even when the number doesn't move yet.
