iRODS devel packages on running system needed? And what about rpm/deb packaging

Hi,

Are the iRODS devel packages needed on the running system? or is it only needed for the build of the DSI module? I would like to know if it is possible to build on one system and copy the correct file to the target system.

And are there plans to make a script so you build an rpm or deb package and install that package? This way you know what the version is of the package installed. And an update of the package installs the needed things and removes obsolete things.

Hi, this Justin from the iRODS consortium. I am currently working on making minor updates for iRODS 4.2. In this effort we will also be creating iRODS packages for the iRODS GridFTP plugin. Once finished I will be submitting a pull request for this.
