Hi there,
In the DesktopEditors of your upstream OnlyOffice, there has been suggested a change, on how the DesktopEditors behave when opening Office Open XML template files.
Because currently, if one double-clicks a template-file, it opens it in the "Edit" mode instead of opening a new Document using that template as a base.
There have been issues opened regarding this topic:
There was also a Reddit-Post in r/OnlyOffice mentioning this topic, where I've also "added my mustard to". (German proverb for our non-German speaking contributors ^^)
This change however made it never into a current release of the DesktopEditors, only a "kindof" workaround as been implemented by this time. (Being to open a new empty document, go to File → Open from Template → Select template file)
It has been mentioned, that there were resources allocated, but I doubt that this feature will see any light in the next few years.
It would be awesome, if this feature however, gets some love and being implemented in Euro-Office's DesktopEditors.
