I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out because I noticed we are both actively developing forks derived from the crosspoint-reader firmware (CrossInk version), and I thought it would be great to connect.
I've been working on CrossInk-academic (https://github.com/jbfarias/CrossInk-academic). My main focus has been tailoring the e-reader environment to better support intensive academic workflows—specifically optimizing the device for navigating dense philosophical texts, legal frameworks, and structural research. My background is in education, post-graduate research, and EdTech architecture (mostly working with canvas rendering and React interfaces [with little help from AI]), so my goal here has been to reduce the friction of deep reading and knowledge management on e-ink hardware.
I have been following your commits on CrossNotes and it seems we share very complementary goals in making the firmware a more robust tool for productivity, study, and active reading.
Since maintaining standalone forks can sometimes fragment the community's time and effort, I wanted to reach out and see if you’d be open to exploring some form of collaboration. Whether that means sharing ideas on firmware architecture, opening pull requests between our repositories to share specific features, or even discussing a potential merge of our efforts to build a unified, high-performance study tool, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
