pre conditioning? Hyundai EU

I'd like to use the pre-conditioning option of my Inster in upcoming winters. In the app, I could activate it complicated. Preferbly I'd like to use it via Home Assistant.

BTW great app and maintaining. Really not easy with Hyundai.

Same for my Kia EV9 - I get 4 controls, a lot of data entities, but nothing shows up in the Actions or Automations panels so other than lock/unlock I can't send any commands to the car.

You are looking in the wrong spot if you don't see other options. Start_climate for sure will exist. Check the docs for how to find them. They aren't under the device.

@cdnninja climate might be one of the 4 controls @bmcconalogue-collab mentioned. What we're talking about here (at least if we're all on the same page) is battery preconditioning, which is a separate command in the app.

They mention other than lock unlock they can't send anything to the car so wanted to clarify other items should work. I do understand the preconditioning aspect.

It's taken some poking about. I understand there's not entities with control features in a dashboard in the integration except lock/unlock but I can send commands like close windows with automation. I'm coming from homeseer and still figuring my way through some of the integrations. I imagine I could create buttons and link them to commands, it just isn't available out of the box because no-one has tried to code it up. Beyond my skills at this point but I think I can work around with automations.

Yes could add buttons for some items but only ones that don't have values needing config. Otherwise automations are best so the user can define those defaults, say like start_climate items.

I would be happy to create a PR implementing this, but the stumbling block at the moment is I have no idea what the API endpoint looks like for it. I tried to do some reverse engineering on the myHyundai app but couldn't crack its security.

After another few hours I did manage to get apk-mitm to successfully compile a version of the myHyundai app with certificate pinning disabled, but it just crashes the instant you launch it. I guess they've seriously beefed up their anti-reverse-engineering approach since the original work was done on this project.

Maybe try this route? webdjoe/pyvesync#330 (comment) different app but may work.

I tried the Frida approach as well, it crashed instantly too. The one thing I haven't done is tried using an older device. I have my old Pixel 4 with Android 10 on it that might be a bit more susceptible to tampering, if the app will install on a device that old. I'll give it a try this week.

Oh, I know that, I've contributed! I was asking what their proposed PR would do. I was confused by the question, not the term :)
