here is the idea: trying to enhance the experience with landing on planets and mining their resources,
i thought that, instead of just moving on a mineral to collect it, we could be drilling for it.
i explain a bit more:
the map on the lower screen could show mineral location just as usual. but on the upper screen where actual operation take place, mineral location could be shown as a general area where the lander could place itself upon and start drilling. the operation could take a few seconds. depending a few factors it could take more or less time.
for example:
- the depth the mineral is located at
- hardness of the surface
- the strength of the drill
we could have a new equipments for the lander to buy: drill v1, v2, v3 .. to be able to drill faster. also some harder surface could require drill v3 to be mined. while some softer surface would allow it with only drill v1.
drill operation could be aborted if enemy approaches, or if earthquake happening. lander would retreat, move around a bit to avoid danger and then restart drilling operation when conditions would allow it.
