I know the rules are slightly different in various places, so I mention this in case the part-writing rules you learned coincide with mine. A melodic dissonance was marked from a diminished 4th in my music, but we learned that diminished intervals are okay if resolved with an opposite step. Again, I acknowledge that the rules differ depending on where and when you learned them; this is just how I learned them.
