Currently, the 3D badge preview only displays a static representation of a user's GitHub contributions. While it effectively shows overall activity, users cannot visualize how their contribution history evolved over time. This makes it harder to showcase consistency, growth, and long-term contribution patterns in an engaging way
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a Contribution Time-Lapse Playback feature to the 3D badge preview.
The feature would allow users to animate their GitHub contribution graph from the beginning of a selected year up to the current date, gradually building the 3D city based on contribution activity.
Key functionality:
Add a Time-Lapse toggle/button in the badge generator or dashboard preview.
Animate contributions week-by-week or month-by-month.
Display the current playback date or month during the animation.
Provide playback controls:
Play
Pause
Restart
Ensure the animation respects all existing theme and customization settings.
Keep the current static badge preview unchanged for users who do not enable time-lapse mode.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Showing contribution growth through static snapshots taken at different points in the year.
Providing contribution statistics or charts alongside the 3D badge.
Using a simple progress slider to manually scrub through contribution history without animation.
While these alternatives provide historical insights, they are less engaging and do not offer the same visual storytelling effect as a full time-lapse animation.
