Description

When trying to install the new arm version. MacOS prohibits use due to suspected malware. This seems to be an incorrect classification. Still I believe this should be fixed. Do you need any help? :)

Hey Felix!

That probably is due to the fact that I did not sign the .dmg and the .app files.
Does this malware message appear when opening the .dmg or the .app?

Ensure that in System Preferences -> Privacy & Security you have set the Allow apps from Appstore and verified Developers.

Then open the Terminal and type following line (replace /path/to/) and press Enter:
find /path/to/swiftGuard.app | xargs -I {} xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "{}"

This would remove all quarantine flags from the .app. For the first start right click on swiftGuard.app -> open and wait.
This should work, I know its a bit of a hassle, but only needed once 😊

That being said, people who want to use this program are paranoid to begin with. I imagine this would stop many potential users cold. I certainly hesitated.

Yes exactly. This is also what I did. I simply isolated it from my other programs. So it should not be a direct issue now. Still it would be nice if there was only the standard "you sure you want to open this app" that can be overridden easily and with more confidence :)
I believe this could be fixed by signing the app with an apple developer certificate. Sorry for not clarifying the issue enough beforehand. And thank you for your quick response @Lennolium! ☺️

Yes you are both right. Like it is mentioned in the README.md and INSTALL.md you can also click on "Open Anyway".
I should clarify in the Installation section that you need to follow that procedure and swiftGuard is no malware, just not signed. If I would get an apple developer certificate (costs 99$/year), that message would disappear. But Apple does not let me get a certificate unfortunately: I tried with two different AppleIDs and every time my payment method gets declined ...
And the Apple support just tells me they can not help me regarding this 😭

If someone is able to get a Cert from Apple and could help me, that would be really appreciated 😊
