The amount of data contaminated by hardware settling time at the start of each observation is in the QUACKTIM header card in the metafits file, and in many cases, the settling time is as little as 0.1 seconds (before rounding up to the nearest correlator dump time). It would be great if cotter used that field to set the _initDurationToFlag attribute if the --initflag command line parameter was not provided, instead of using the worst-case default of 4.0 seconds.
