Brainstorming about workspace tree widget

Now that we have this nice new layout for GIS projects and items it's time to collect ideas how to make best use of that new layout.

We have:

• The name in the top line. It's tooltip shows detailed information
• Tool buttons in the top that hide when item is not in focus
• A status line at the bottom
• If there is a very good reason we can add tool button in this line, too.

The main focus is on the tool buttons and the status line. The content of both is also dependent on the item.

I would like to collect ideas about what to add. This is a brainstorming. So do not hesitate to add ideas. We will discuss them and if the feedback is well I will list the idea right here in this 1st post. We can define tickets when someone volunteers to implement

Implemented:

• Geocache: Trivial cache name in status line (see PR [QMS-953] Fix geo cache symbols on map #954)
• Add copy button to projects on a GPS device (see PR [QMS-985] Add copy button to projects on a GPS device #986)
• Configure content and size of the items in the workspace list (see PR [QMS-980] Configure content and size of the items in the workspace list #981)

My first idea: Add the "copy to" button to each project on a device, because that is the function next to visibility the user most likely want to use. As with the other projects the button is only visible when the project has the focus.

This one is already part of PR #954. They waypoint name for a geocache is the cryptic hash. The human readable name is stored in the geocache extensions. With two lines available we can show the cache name in the status line.

If anyone in geocaching: What information should be shown in the cache waypoint item?

I would like to see the distance and ascent of tracks right in the tree view:

This is especially nice for track collections used for planning.
