Input method

Standard remote (d-pad)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Press "Subtitles" on a video with multiple subtitles of the same macro language
  2. Sometimes multiple options of different language-tags will all have the same displayed title (e.g. "pt-BR" and "pt-PT" displayed as "Portuguese" which is which?)

Proposed solutions

The user should be able to see the language of the subtitle, not only the macro language.

  1. Show the language-tag (e.g. "pt-BR") in a similar way the "forced" tag is displayed, in a right-aligned and discrete manner;
  2. Modify the displayed title when they are repeated, to show the difference or at least add an index.
    • "Portuguese" changed to "[pt-BR] Portuguese" or "Portuguese (1)", so when trying multiple options, at least the user will know they are not trying the same option again

Photo or video of the problem

In this picture the video contain multiple subtitles named "Portuguese - SUBRIP", which are:

  • Language Tag: "pt-BR"
  • Language Tag: "pt-BR", Closed Caption
  • Language Tag: "pt-PT"

The user is not able to identify which is pt-BR or pt-PT and neither if it is CC/SDH or normal subtitles.
