ESP32 S3 support

The project looks very cool. How adaptable is this for the ESP-32 chip given that most newer devices move towards that one as it is more powerful?
If it’s not compatible, are you planning to adjust the project for it in the future?

Thanks! OnePage is not tightly coupled to the ESP32-C61 at the application layer. Most of the reader/UI code is portable; supporting another MCU is mainly a BSP port for the display, micro SD card, keys, power management, and other board-specific peripherals.

ESP32-S3 is definitely powerful enough, so an s3 port should be feasible. I chose c61 mainly for power consumption, Wi-Fi6, and how well its resources fit this very thin hardware design, rather than for raw performance.

I don’t have a committed s3 version on the roadmap at the moment, but I’m trying to keep the software architecture portable across ESP32 targets.

Do you know if the hardware design needs to change too for the S3 or if this is easily portable?
I don't know much about hardware mechanisms, but the firmware part seems manageable with a couple of tweaks based on your response.

yep, the hardware would need to change too. c61 and s3 aren’t pin-compatible, so it’s not a drop-in swap.

the overall design can stay mostly the same, but the SoC section would need to be redesigned — pin mapping, power, USB, RF/antenna and some routing.

software side is mostly a BSP/driver port; hardware side would basically be a new s3 board revision using the same OnePage architecture.

definitely doable, just more than a couple of tweaks :)
