API documentation missing

Thanks for pointing this out. It probably broke when we switched from Travis CI to GitHub Actions in PR #89 .

It could also be that the very old Sphinx conf.py was not compatible with newer RTD requirements. The API docs are built just fine in #97 (but I can of course not predict what happens on RTD).
