We still dont know if we need an API key for each OS or if one will cover all, we have ask Groundspeak about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like OpenSAK wouldn't be able to be open source if the key is public, and free users won't be able to use it. c:geo is a HTML scraper? Maybe borrow logic from it and skip the API entirely.

Good catch, but this is solvable: the API key lives only in our CI as a secret, not in the repo. Official builds get it injected at build time; anyone cloning the source can still build and run OpenSAK, just without the API-gated features unless they get their own key. So we stay open source either way.

On c:geo — worth noting they don't actually use the official API at all; they authenticate as the user and talk to the site's internal endpoints directly, which isn't sanctioned by Groundspeak's terms. That's a real risk we'd rather not take while our official Partner API application is active.
