i download the app image of the samrewriten and then go do my downloads files and i try to open it and i cant

Yes a lot of people have this problem too.. it's an old project I don't have the time to update it to work on more modern oses.

What still works is compiling it from source yourself, the instructions are available on the readme. Let me know if there's something you can't do or seem unclear!

ok i think i am geting closer now i used some codes on the internet to instal the GTK 3 but it still it gives me the same error. If you have time can you give me the lines to put on the teminal to install it :)

Have you run the prerequisite command for Ubuntu like said in the Readme?

$ sudo apt install libgtkmm-3.0-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev libyajl-dev

Did this command complete successfully?

that part is fixed thx. now it says when i try to use the line $ ./bin/launch.sh it says it cant find the steam directory.

The error you are getting is "Unable to locate the Steam directory". Did you install Steam with apt ? Flatpak and Snap are not supported at the moment..

thx again i think i got it working and yes i did not instal with an apt byt now i hav done it
Now after i unlock an achivement and i click the button "Confirm changes and send to steam" when i open steam those achivements dont unlock.
I tried on another game and worked is it normal?

It is possible that some achievements don't unlock if you're trying online games, some achievements are unlocked on the server side for which there is nothing we can do unfortunately
