MIDI extraction

Hi,

Im just getting started in this world of MIDI and GP files. I have to say I am very impressed with this lib!

I am currently exploring the contents of the classes in this GP module and attempted to write them to MIDI using the midiutil library.
I expected GP to encode the notes played like absolute values but apparently it is uses the fretboard as basis!
Of course I could calculate the actual pitch from freatboard position and the string tunings...

Is there some easier way to get the MIDI pitch value directly?

Ah, I already have it working quite easily with something like:

class GuitarToPitch:
    def __init__(self, tuning):
        self.strings = {}
        for string in tuning:
            self.strings[string.number] = string.value
            
    def __call__(self, string, value):
        return self.strings[string] + value
