Published pages still link to the retired discourse.quantecon.org #356

Description

@mmcky

discourse.quantecon.org was retired in March 2025 (QuantEcon/website#157) and the subdomain no longer resolves — dig returns no record at all. Several published pages still send readers there.

Still linking to the dead forum

python.quantecon.org and intro.quantecon.org were cleaned at the time; the rest were missed.

The troubleshooting pages are the ones worth fixing first. A reader who has hit a problem is told to ask on a forum, follows the link, and gets a domain that does not exist — which is a worse outcome than not offering the route at all.

What to point at instead

That needs a decision rather than a mechanical substitution, because there is currently no replacement surface. The closure announcement said we would be "evaluating new platforms and opportunities", and #153 (Ghost) is the live thread there. In the meantime the honest options are to point readers at the relevant repository's issue tracker, or simply to remove the sentence.

Worth noting alongside this: GitHub Discussions is disabled on every public QuantEcon repository except meta — verified has_discussions: false on lecture-python.myst, lecture-python-intro, lecture-jax, QuantEcon.py, website and community-library. It is free, already owned, and would give the troubleshooting pages somewhere to point. Enabling it is a separate decision from fixing the dead links, but the two are worth considering together.

Surfaced while evaluating #65.
