Interface suggestion

Fantastic player but some interface changes, or maybe a theme, would be a great idea to add.

• In version 0.5.x, stable, now on ubuntu, there is no title - and it is actually better that way, much better than having it displayed at all. Option to disable the title display would be great.
• Title and bottom controls transparency/gradient - can we just remove that unnecessary background? simple half-transparent slider with a white ball is much better. Also a color option would be great.

Generally UI from 0.5 version is better (but the bottom controls should be OSC, slider and buttons, as in newer version). Again, disabling that half-transparent panel on the top to display title - would be great.

Themes option may be a great idea too.

Can we have those options ?

Hi, version 0.5 is now 4 years old, lots of things have changed since then, including programming language used. Nowaydays Clapper works on a playback queue model thus top menu with ability to reveal and interact with queue with a title to know what is currently playing is a necessity.

Libadwaita doesn't support theming nowadays either, so you cannot have "advanced themes" - such as that remove top title panel. But Clapper is more then a player application. It provides both playback and GTK UI integration libraries. If someone is abitious enough and knows programming basics, this can be used to assemble a custom player application with an UI specific to one's liking 😄 .

Ill see if time allows, but still, the top title, really would be great to remove.

It may be also good to upgrade current ubuntu clapper version (had to use flatpak for newest).

Why a fork? 😄

Simply removing/hiding top panel breaks most of usage, as in addition to queue, open file/URI buttons are there too.

See Clapper libraries documentation (links in readme) and "examples" directory (currently examples are in Python, but you can use other languages too) for creating minimal player implementation, then customize it to your liking.

My understanding here is that you are telling me: "I want minimal version of player, no title, no queue just video window and seek bar on OSD" - this is exactly how examples/clapper-gtk/video/simple/python/example.py is and its only 45 lines of code while most of them are comments. You are free fork if you want, but Clapper already gives you APIs to build custom implementation without forking (and using other programming languages than C).

I only personally maintain Flatpak package. You would need to find and ask Ubuntu package maintainer 😄

Ok, thanks for the information, I'll customize it myself (i got lazy recently). Ubuntu packages are far outdated.
