Have Folder Option Under Attachments

Low priority but it would be nice if there was an option to attach a folder under the Attachements bin. Therefore, you wouldn't have to compress a folder in order to upload it to QRiS (e.g., folder with as-built photos).

Can you be more specific @zburgert1997 ?

Is this folder outside the QRiS project? If so, who is responsible for copying it into the QRiS project (so that it travels with the project when it is uploaded etc)

Or are you proposing that the user is responsible for copying the folder fulls of files into the QRiS project and then simply "attaching" it to the project?

It's not clear to me what you are proposing here.

@philipbaileynar The latter, attaching a folder with multiple files in it into the QRiS project. Right now, if there is a folder with photos, etc. I have to compress it into a zipped file in order to attach it to the QRiS project. If we had a folder option, the user can open & see the contents of that folder rather than unzipping it.

I don't hate this... but there are subtleties and complications that make this quite tricky.

1. Currently the attachments folder is managed by QRiS. Letting/encouraging the user to mess with files in there will create problems. They will rename files, move files etc that will break the linkage with the paths stored in the QRiS database.
2. This somewhat assumes that QRiS will scan this folder and make individual attachments for each file? But there won't be any user input so these attachments will only have the file name for the title etc.

A better approach would be for the user to attach a folder from its original location and let QRiS copy all the files across. We could perhaps present a checkbox list to let the user include/exclude certain files (much like project upload/download). This still suffers from using file names as the initial attachment names. But at least it keeps the users away from the attachments folder where they could really make a mess.
