Missing emoji 🔵

Description:

RocketChat/Rocket.Chat.ReactNative#5324 adds the previously missing emoji 🔵 (:large_blue_circle:) to the app. However, it is missing in the browser edition of Rocket.Chat.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Write a message containing :large_blue_circle:.

Expected behavior:

:large_blue_circle: will be converted to 🔵.

Actual behavior:

:large_blue_circle: will not be converted to 🔵.

Server Setup Information:

• Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 6.4.5
• Deployment Method: Docker
• Number of Running Instances: 1
• MongoDB Version: 6.0.11

Client Setup Information

Issue is client-agnostic.

: blue_circle : instead of : large_blue_circle : corresponds to 🔵 emoji in browser edition of Rocket.Chat.

@paulchen then Joypixels integration being used for emojis hasn't been updated since 2019. The blue circle emoji corresponds to the same thing.

As you can see there's an instance of blue_circle but no instance of large_blue_circle in the source code. I can submit an equivalent PR for the browser version as the one you mentioned, however that won't actually make a difference.

As you can see here, 🔵 and :blue_circle: are used interchangeably among different apps. A workaround could be to declare a global alias for the emoji, but it would be quite unnecessary as the blue_circle emoji is the same thing.

Personally I don't care whether we have :large_blue_circle: or not. However, I think that web version and app should be consistent. On the other hand, I'm not affiliated with Rocket.Chat so I'm not in the position to make such decisions.

\Rocket.Chat\packages\livechat\src\components\Emoji\emojis.ts seemed to lack the emoji so i added it , wont it fix this ?

Closing this in favor of #39411, where we’re replacing Emojione with native Unicode emojis.

It’s still a draft, and we’d love help from the community to get it across the finish line 🙌
