Feature request: Options to exclude widgets from overlay

It would be great if the config area drop-downs for the various widget units could include another option (possibly called exclude or don't display, for example) which, if selected, would pass the appropriate command-line option to gopro-dashboard.py (--exclude <widget> in this case) to exclude the widget from being displayed in the overlay.

Use case: My riding setup has no logging for temperature, so I'd prefer to not have that widget displayed on the overlay.

Hi!

The --exclude flag is already supported by gopro-dashboard.py underneath, but GPStitch doesn't expose it as a separate UI control because the same result can be achieved with Custom Templates: open the layout in the editor (Advanced mode), delete the temperature widget, save as your own template, and pick it for renders. This stores your preference permanently and works across sessions.

Thanks for the comment. I understand your explanation and agree with it to a degree. I would be OK with only that option, but here's why I think it would be useful to also be able to --exclude items from display:

Let's say that someone comes up with some really killer layouts and submits them to be included with gopro-dashboard-overlay. They get accepted and I decide to use some of them. I would then need to create custom versions of each with the data I want shown. And every time they're modified, I'd have to delete and re-create my custom template.

On the other hand, if I could just specify which items I want displayed (and preferably be able to save those options as my default), I could use any layout with no modifications to the layout needed.

In summary, I think it would be easier for a novice user to tweak for the data that they want to see (if they don't have a heart rate monitor, or cadence sensor, or power meter, or thermometer, for example).
