[BUG] Not able to use OpenRouter Elephant Alpha. Missing multiple OpenRouter models

I am trying to use OpenRouter Elephant Alpha on RooCode.

My dad was able to get his to load and work properly, but I seem to be missing all OpenRouter models, except for 'bodybuilder' and 'free'.

Has anyone seen this issue or know of a solution?

Context (who is affected and when)

Happens with OpenRouter. Im not sure if it is me or multiple users.

Reproduction steps

1. Set API Provider to OpenRouter.
2. Add API key.
3. Can't view all OpenRouter Models.

Expected result

I should be able to select any OpenRouter model I want.

Actual result

Only 2 OpenRouter models appear.

Thanks for reporting this. I dug into the codebase to understand how OpenRouter models are loaded, and here is what I found:

How model loading works:

1. Roo Code fetches all available models from the public OpenRouter API endpoint (/api/v1/models) -- this does not use your API key, so key-based restrictions should not affect which models appear in the list.
2. The fetched models are cached both in memory (5-minute TTL) and on disk (persistent). On startup, models are loaded from disk cache first, then refreshed from the API in the background.
3. Models are then displayed in the ModelPicker dropdown, optionally filtered by organization allow lists if your organization has configured one.

Possible causes for only 2 models appearing:

• Corrupted or stale disk cache: If the initial API fetch failed or returned partial data, the disk cache may have persisted a very small model set, and subsequent loads may keep serving that stale data.
• Network issue: If your network blocks or modifies requests to openrouter.ai/api/v1/models, you could get a truncated response.
• Organization allow list: If you are part of a Roo Code organization (e.g. Roo Code Cloud), an admin-configured allow list could restrict which models are visible.
• Custom base URL: If you have a custom OpenRouter base URL configured, the endpoint may return a different set of models.

To help narrow this down, could you try the following?

1. Clear the model cache: Open the VS Code Command Palette (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+P), run "Roo Code: Clear Model Cache", then restart VS Code. This forces a fresh model fetch.
2. Check if you have a custom base URL: In the OpenRouter settings, is the "Use Custom Base URL" checkbox enabled?
3. Test the API directly: Open a browser tab and navigate to https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/models -- you should see hundreds of models in the JSON response. If you see only a few, the issue is on OpenRouter's side.
4. Check for organization settings: Are you using Roo Code through an organization or team account that might have model restrictions?

The two model names you mentioned ("bodybuilder" and "free") do not match any known OpenRouter model IDs, which makes me think this might be related to how the search/filter is displaying results rather than the actual model list being limited. Could you confirm -- are you seeing these as the only items in the dropdown, or are you typing something in the search box that filters down to these two?

I am on a personal account of Roo Code.

1. When I try to clear the model cache, I do not have any option to clear the model cache. I tried running "Roo Code" and scrolling down and "Roo Code: Clear Model Cache".

2. "Use Custom Base URL" is disabled. I just tried enabling the custom base URL and pointing it to https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/models, but that still gave me the same error.
3. Yes, I see hundreds of models here.
4. I have tried typing it in "openrouter/elephant-alpha" and I also tried to just scroll down and select the model, but those are the only visible models available through openrouter on my end.

I am also on a mac using Tahoe 26.4 (25E246). I tried to use my Windows computer and I had the same issue, but I can only see openrouter/bodybuilder on the Windows version.
