I've analyzed this issue and here's my understanding and proposed implementation plan:

Root Cause Analysis:

The auth flow calls clerkSignIn() in packages/cloud/src/WebAuthService.ts, which makes a POST to https://clerk.roocode.com/v1/client/sign_ins. All Clerk API calls in this file use a hardcoded 10-second timeout via AbortSignal.timeout(10000). For users in regions with high latency to Clerk's servers (e.g., China, where Baidu Comate IDE is used), 10 seconds is not enough, causing consistent TimeoutError failures.

The refreshSession path already has retry logic via RefreshTimer, but the initial clerkSignIn call during authentication callback has no retry mechanism, so a single timeout kills the entire auth attempt.

Proposed Plan:

1. Increase the default timeout from 10s to 30s for all Clerk API calls in WebAuthService.ts (lines 538, 582, 602, 709, 733). Extract the timeout value into a constant (e.g., CLERK_API_TIMEOUT_MS = 30_000) for maintainability.

2. Add retry logic to clerkSignIn - wrap the fetch call with up to 2 retries (3 total attempts) with a short delay between attempts, specifically for timeout errors. This mirrors the resilience already present in the session refresh path.

3. Improve error messaging for timeout scenarios - when a TimeoutError occurs during handleCallback, surface a more actionable error message suggesting the user check their network connectivity and try again, rather than the raw timeout error.

This approach addresses the immediate problem (timeouts in high-latency regions) without changing the auth flow architecture.
