⏳ What Needs Implementation

Backend

Game Engine Completion (Medium effort)

  • HandEvaluator._isStraight() — Straight detection with wheel support
  • HandEvaluator._valueCounts() — Count card values for pairs/trips
  • HandEvaluator._combinations() — Generate 5-card combos from 7
  • HandEvaluator._calculateScore() — Encode hand into comparable integer
  • GameStateMachine._resetActionsForStreet() — Reset state for next street
  • GameStateMachine._nextActivePlayer() — Find next player to act

Oracle Implementation (Low effort)

  • ShuffleOracle.hash() — SHA-256 seed + commitment
  • ShuffleOracle.generateCommitment() — Create commitment for hand

Admin Routes (Low effort)

  • POST /admin/cancel-pool/:poolId — Admin only
  • POST /admin/force-end-hand/:poolId — Admin only

Frontend

UI Components (High effort)

  • Auth/Login page — Wallet connect, signature
  • Dashboard — Active games, stats, leaderboard
  • Game table — Show cards, pot, players, community cards
  • Action buttons — Fold, Check, Call, Bet, Raise
  • Stats page — Player history, hand replays
  • Leaderboard — Top players by winnings

Game Logic (Medium effort)

  • Real-time game state rendering
  • Timer display with countdown
  • Disable actions during opponent's turn
  • Hand replay viewer
  • Pot calculation display

Testing

  • Unit tests for GameStateMachine
  • Unit tests for HandEvaluator
  • Unit tests for SidePotCalculator
  • Integration tests for WebSocket flow
  • E2E tests with test wallets

🚀 Quick Implementation Order

Phase 1: Get Server Running (1-2 hours)

  1. Fill in .env file with real credentials
  2. Deploy Turso database, run schema
  3. Start server: npm start
  4. Verify: curl http://localhost:3002/api/health

Phase 2: Complete Game Engine (2-3 hours)

  1. Implement HandEvaluator methods
  2. Test with sample 7-card hands
  3. Implement GameStateMachine._resetActionsForStreet()
  4. Test full hand flow

Phase 3: Frontend Client (2-3 hours)

  1. Set up React project
  2. Test RoyalStackClient auth flow
  3. Build basic UI with useRoyalStack hook
  4. Test WebSocket connection

Phase 4: UI & Polish (4-6 hours)

  1. Build game table component
  2. Add real-time animations
  3. Implement hand history viewer
  4. Polish UX/styling

Phase 5: Deployment (1-2 hours)

  1. Deploy server (Railway/Heroku)
  2. Deploy frontend (Vercel/Netlify)
  3. Configure monitoring (Sentry/Uptime Robot)
  4. Go live! 🎉

📊 Architecture Summary

Frontend (React)
    ↓ WebSocket + REST
    ↓
Server (Node.js + Express)
    ├─ Auth Layer (WalletConnect)
    ├─ Game Engine (Pure logic)
    ├─ WebSocket Handler
    ├─ REST API
    └─ Services:
        ├─ Redis (ephemeral state)
        ├─ Turso (persistent history)
        ├─ EventListener (blockchain)
        └─ GameEngine (validation, evaluation)

🔑 Key Design Principles

  • Wallet = Identity — No profiles, just signatures
  • Stateless Server — Easy horizontal scaling
  • Ephemeral + Persistent — Redis for speed, Turso for history
  • Provably Fair — Commit-reveal for shuffle verification
  • Event-Driven — Contract events trigger game logic
  • Immutable History — All hands logged to Turso
