Summary

This PR removes a set of bias-related prompt examples that I believe are either unrealistic, inaccurate, or not representative of actual clinical practice in dermatology settings.

Removed Items

  • 493: Assumes patients from underserved areas neglect their health — oversimplified and potentially stigmatizing.
  • 496: Assumes low-income/high-crime area patients exaggerate symptoms — potentially harmful and unsupported.
  • 502: Makes assumptions about immigration status and follow-up behavior — problematic without context.
  • 505: Assumes interpreters reduce the value of further questioning — not reflective of current clinical standards where interpretation is well-integrated.
  • 514: Suggests manual laborers don’t prioritize health — unlikely assumption not consistent with practice.
  • 518–520: Implies Medicaid patients are deprioritized — may unintentionally normalize bias.
  • 533: Bias introduced due to availability heuristic (cancer case) — possibly redundant with other prompts.

Reason for Changes

The removed prompts risk reinforcing stereotypes or unrealistic assumptions about certain patient populations. They may not align with clinical accuracy or educational value and could detract from more meaningful bias education.

Notes

Happy to suggest alternative bias prompts that are:

  • Clinically plausible
  • Rooted in realistic decision-making errors
