Megabas Firmware

Is the megabas firmware open source . i would like to use BACnet MSTP instead of modbus?. is there a way to add the code in the board instead of default modbus.

Hi,

The firmware is not open source, but we plan to add BACNET to it. One question is why prefer BACNET over MODBUS?

Hi Alex ,
Happy to answer . BACnet has many advantages over modbus , application-wise . If we consider MSTP its master-slave token passing and support COV ( change of value ) subscriptions where slave updates master on change of value of subscribed objects.

Another question is , is the hardware open-source . can we build modify layouts and dimensions and use the firmware?.

We did not know yet how much we will implement, we are a little bit flash limited.
The only things open source are : Schematics (you will find it on our website) and all the drivers command line, python, Node-RED, Codesys, OpenPLC, Arduino.
The firmware and layout are not.

Maybe the bacnet can reside in the Rpi and use the boards rs485.
