Installing Flow Studio 2

Before you begin

Flow Studio 2.0.0 supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Close any previous Flow Studio instance before installing or updating. Back up important .flow projects and their matching .flow-media folders.

Download and verify

  1. Open the official v2.0.0 release.

  2. Download Flow-Studio-Setup-2.0.0.exe.

  3. Open PowerShell in the folder containing the download and run:

    Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 '.\Flow-Studio-Setup-2.0.0.exe'

  4. Confirm the result matches checksums/SHA256SUMS.txt.

Install

  1. Double-click the installer.
  2. Because the installer is currently unsigned, Windows may identify it as coming from an unknown publisher. Continue only after confirming the GitHub source and SHA-256 checksum.
  3. Complete setup, then launch Flow Studio from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

The installer can update an existing Flow Studio installation. User projects, project media, presets, and settings are not stored in the installation directory and should remain intact, but keep backups before every update.

First launch audio setup

  1. Open Settings.
  2. For an audio interface, open Interface / Output, select ASIO, choose the interface driver, enable its microphone input and headphone output channels, and use the driver's Control Panel to set its buffer/sample rate.
  3. Choose the matching named Recording Input Channel. Flow Studio exposes up to 64 driver-reported physical inputs; leave it on Auto only when the first input pair is appropriate.
  4. Start with the device's normal sample rate and a 256-sample buffer. Reduce the buffer after confirming stable playback.
  5. Check the input meter before arming a track.
  6. Use headphones before enabling Mic Monitor, then choose Raw or Live FX.

For a USB microphone and a separate output device, Flow Studio operates them as independent streams and adapts between their device clocks.

Optional VST3 setup

Install 64-bit VST3 plug-ins into a normal VST3 location, commonly:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

In Flow Studio, open the Effect Rack, choose Add VST3, and use Refresh after installing or removing plug-ins. The scan cache is reused on later opens. A third-party plug-in can still fail or behave differently depending on its own licensing and compatibility.

Optional Applio setup

  1. Install and test Applio separately using its official instructions.
  2. Right-click a vocal clip in Flow Studio and choose ReVoice.
  3. Select the Applio root folder. The bridge expects core.py and env\python.exe inside that folder. Flow Studio 2.0.0 is tested with Applio 3.2.9 and 3.6.3 and automatically adapts to their different inference APIs.
  4. Choose a .pth voice model and optional .index file from the searchable selectors.

Applio and voice models are not part of the Flow Studio installer. Use models and recordings only with appropriate permission.

Uninstall

Use Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Flow Studio > Uninstall in Windows. Uninstalling the application does not intentionally delete projects or project media saved elsewhere.
