Bug: Light mode glitching out

Description

when switching between light and dark mode quickly, very very rarely will the colors invert temporarily, fixes itself when light/dark mode cycled again.

hard to reproduce just spam click light button until something breaks tbh

Reproduced myself without ever hitting the button. Sometimes, this is hit just on page load.

it's an odd bug, I'm thinking just a simple check on every render should fix it; but I'll go in and see if i can find a root cause so as not to use such a band-aid solution.
