ZeroSphere

ZeroSphere is a web-based analytics platform designed to quantify, visualise and reduce the carbon footprint of Indian coal mines. It offers two major capabilities:

Scope-1 Carbon Emission Calculator:

This tool estimates direct emissions from fuel combustion, fugitive gases, and other carbon-emission sources in coal mines, calculates natural sinks such as afforestation and grassland restoration, and outputs net CO₂-equivalent (CO₂e) emissions with visualisations and downloadable reports.

Decarbonization Pathway Simulator:

This tool evaluates three realistic carbon-reduction pathways- afforestation, methane capture systems, and renewable energy adoption (solar), based on a mine’s available land, funds, and current emissions.

For a detailed report of this project, including the formulae used in the backed, refer to this Google Doc link:

About

ZeroSphere is an innovative platform enabling Indian mines to calculate, track, reduce, and offset their carbon footprint. Through carbon emission calculator, data-driven insights, and actionable suggestions, it empowers Indian mines to achieve carbon neutrality, adopt sustainable practices, and contribute to a greener future.
