The new Fusion install needs an webbrowser for authentication. Once you install it, there only comes a window with login, and the message to "check the browser for login". There are also several GTK-related wine errors.

Just FYI. I gave up waiting for this and switched over to FreeCAD. So unless you're locked in to Fusion for some other reason, I'd suggest giving it a try. Since they fixed the topological naming issue and release a more polished V1.0, it has been fantastic.

I was in the same boat as you and held off switching to Linux but since doing this, I have had no regrets. So anything I can do to encourage someone else to ditch the Windows spyware... ;)
