Blender Sun close-up (photosphere + limb) #50

Description

@ThomasAFink

Summary

Add a Blender Sun render on the shared close-up path — bright photosphere, soft limb, optional simple corona/haze — for gallery GIFs and later near-Sun cinematic framing.

Depends on

Scope

  • New body kind (e.g. star / sun) in appearance registry; Sol is not in PlanetCatalog the same way — wire --body Sun explicitly
  • Texture or procedural photosphere (granulation OK if we have a map; else emissive procedural)
  • Lighting model: the Sun is the light source — close-up should be self-lit / emissive, not a matte ball under a distant lamp
  • Optional soft corona / limb glow (EEVEE-friendly)
  • Outputs: output/animate/blender/stars/sun/sun_flyby_{light,dark}.gif and/or a gentle spin/pulse loop for cinematic reuse
  • Document that this is Sol only for now (other stars later)

Acceptance

  • render.py blender --body Sun --flyby produces light/dark GIFs
  • Sun reads as luminous (not a yellow diffuse planet)
  • Limb / soft edge looks intentional in both themes
  • README gallery + texture attribution (if any maps used)

Out of scope

  • Full MHD corona / prominence sim
  • Texturing α Cen A/B/Proxima (follow-up)

Related

Near-Sun stage of the Sol→α Cen cinematic; flyby-beats issue may linger on Sol briefly.
