French Keyboard : which set up to use ?

I received my Hackberry_Pi last thursday.
Hopefully it is up and running but I am fighting with the AZERTY keyboard.

On this AZERTY keyboard, when I use the keystrokes for letters, It is fine in both lowercase and uppercase. That's a good start.
I tried to change the keyboard layout using VIAL following Elecrow recommendation , but unfortunately, it's not successful.

I have nothing as soon as I try to key in the special characters or numbers shown on the keys which are :

• on the top line # 1 2 3 ( ) _ - + @
• on the middle line * 4 5 6 / : ; ' "
• on the lower line 7 8 9 ? ! , . €

Can someone please tell me what to do to fix this issue ?

Hi,

With VIAL, you can use Quantum keys which allow you to map key combinations to a single physical key.
I’ve successfully mapped all the symbols from my AZERTY Q20 keyboard. For example, for the “@” symbol, I assigned the Quantum key "RAlt" on Layer 1, with the configurable key set to “) 0”.
You can find my VIAL layout as an example. I’m not sure if it’s compatible with your 9900, but it works well on my device. Note that I’ve also changed some of the default keys.

PS: Please remove the .txt extension, GitHub doesn't like the .vil extension.

Many thanks for the update ! I found the solution , i don't really remember how I did it.
By the way, I have to do it again for the Pi_CM5
