Drop the limit of 32 workspaces per macOS Space

Is there a reason why this limit exists? Could it be made configurable or increased to 64? The reason is that I use modes (work, personal, and then some ad-hoc modes from time to time) and I want to have 10 workspaces per mode (so I can do alt-0 to alt-9) but rift only allows 32 so I'm limited to 3 modes while I sometimes use 4-5
