Changing margin line appearance

Is there a way to set the width and/or color of the margin line?

Can you give me a better idea of how you'd like the appearance to change and under what circumstances?

Right now with this mode active I see a thick black bar running down the right-hand margin of my text. If I could, I would make 1 pixel thin and get it to match my background color, so it will be as unobtrusive as possible. The ideal thing might be to have one variable where you could set the width in pixels and the color with a hexcode or whatever. But I have no idea if any of this is actually possible or not...
