trigger a Dialog from a DropdownMenu

you cannot paste a Dialog in an DropdownMenuItem as I tried,

so is it possible to dissociate the dialog button trigger and the dialog content so as to be able to open it from
a menu item somewhere else

for example:

each item of a list has it's Dropdown menu of actions,
and an action of writing an email would need to trigger a Dialog (that would be reactively pre filled with item email)

Yeah I was thinking about introducing as_child in places like this, for cases like this. It'll be a bit different than how it works in JS frameworks but it's just basically you signalling "I want to provide my own button here" because currently as you've probably noticed, sometimes I wrap your stuff in a button, and sometimes I don't, and it's not clear when this does/doesn't happen.

It's not exactly elegant, but you can do something like this for now:

Unfortunately you'll have to rewrite it with 0.5 but by then the API should be better and hopefully close to whatever you tried to write the first time.
