A Quick Thank You
I've been blown away by the response since launching EveLens. People reporting bugs, suggesting features, testing betas with 70+ characters, doing security reviews — all of it. This isn't the kind of thing I take for granted. Every message, every issue, every "hey this thing is broken" makes the app better for everyone.
This release is a direct result of that. Almost every change below traces back to someone who spoke up. I want to make sure you know that when you take the time to write something — I read it, I care about it, and it shapes what I build next.
What's New
Compare Your Characters Side-by-Side
If you've ever had to flip between tabs trying to figure out which alt is missing Thermodynamics V, this is for you. Pick up to 10 characters, and their skills show up in columns with color-coded level blocks. Differences stand out instantly — no spreadsheet needed.
This was one of the most requested features going back to the forums. Fumaster pushed for it — "when is character skill comparison coming? evemon had a very easy to use simple one" — and that nudge is what got it prioritized into this release instead of waiting. @AnszaKalltiern then caught that only first names were showing in the column headers, which would've been confusing for anyone with alts like "Cyno Alt 01" and "Cyno Alt 02." Fixed before it shipped.
Never Miss an Empty Queue Again
Managing a lot of characters means a lot of clicking around to check who's training. Not anymore. There's a small clock icon in the status bar that shows you, at a glance, how many queues need attention. Click it and you see every character sorted by urgency — empty and paused at the top, healthy at the bottom. Click a name and you're on their Queue tab.
@BritishDragonAdmin asked for this — they wanted to see queue end dates without clicking into every character. @AnszaKalltiern then found that with 70+ characters, not everyone was showing up in the list. That turned out to be a deeper issue (more on that in bug fixes below) and it's now resolved.
Text Size That Works for You
"The font is too small for me. It would be good to increase it, or add a setting to change the font size." — Jaddax on the forums. Heard you.
There's now a Font Size slider in Settings. Drag it from 80% to 150% and every piece of text in the app scales live — no restart, no fiddling with Windows settings. Whether you're squinting on a 4K display or just want things a bit bigger, it's one slider.
@AnszaKalltiern found that some windows weren't updating when you moved the slider. That's fixed too — everything scales together now.
Adding Characters Shouldn't Be a Chore
If you've been adding alts one at a time through the menu, clicking through three dialogs each time — I'm sorry. That's gone.
There's now a "+" card right in the character overview and a "+" button in the portrait strip. Click it, log in, done. Want to add another? Hit "Add Another" — stays in the same flow. No reopening anything.
@BritishDragonAdmin nailed it: "3 clicks per character adds up fast when you're managing a fleet."
Groups That Actually Make Sense
The old Manage Groups window was confusing. Two panels, unclear what happens when you move someone, no way to reorder. I rebuilt it from scratch.
Now each character has a colored group tag. Click "Assign" and pick from a simple list. Reorder characters with arrow buttons. Rearrange groups themselves. The portrait strip follows your order with dividers between groups — so you can actually see who belongs where.
@BritishDragonAdmin wrote the detailed feedback that drove this redesign. @AnszaKalltiern stress-tested it with 70+ characters and found the reorder gap. Both of your inputs made this what it is.
A Blueprint Browser That Actually Works
If you noticed "Amarr" showing up 24 times as a category — yeah. That was bad. Blueprints now use a proper tree, same as Ships and Items. Full market group paths, expand and collapse, and a "Can Build Only" filter.
@NotmoGit reported both the duplicate categories and the scroll jumping. Wouldn't have found this without you.
See What You Haven't Trained Yet
A new "Untrained" button in the Skills tab shows exactly which skills you haven't injected. Unpublished skills that shouldn't have been showing up (like legacy CFO Training) are now hidden everywhere. Skill counts are finally consistent no matter where you look.
@AnszaKalltiern asked for the skill breakdown on the forums and in discussions. @NotmoGit caught that unpublished skills were still leaking through in some views. Both fixed.
Bug Fixes
ESI errors no longer snowball — If you had 30+ characters, you may have seen errors stacking up and the refresh timer climbing past 18 hours. The root cause was tokens expiring mid-request. They now refresh ahead of time, and temporary failures don't trigger permanent warnings. Your characters keep updating. Reported by @AnszaKalltiern (EVELens 1.0.0-beta.1 - ESI errors continue stacking up; next ESI pull timer now 18+ hours away #34) — running 70+ characters is genuinely the best stress test this app could have.
All characters now show up everywhere — Some characters were silently missing from the Queue Health flyout, Overview, Comparison, and Groups. This was a leftover from the old EVEMon codebase — a "monitored" flag that has no toggle in EveLens. If you migrated from old settings, some characters just... vanished. That can't happen anymore. Reported by @AnszaKalltiern ([Bug/Display Issue] Queue Health does not display all characters #47).
macOS .app now launches properly — File permissions were getting lost during packaging. If you're on a Mac, it should just work now.
Cursor lands where you expect it — Every dialog that asks you to type something now auto-focuses the text box. Small thing, but it matters.
Security
Two pieces of dead code were removed after @SmokeMeAKipper-eve did a thorough security review (#40):
If you spot anything else like this — please keep reporting it. This kind of cleanup makes the whole codebase healthier.
What's Next
1.2.0 is the Skill Farm Dashboard. If you're running extraction alts, you'll be able to see exactly how much ISK each one is generating, when extractors are ready, and whether your accounts are sustaining themselves. Read the preview →
