Bug: Workspace layout is not restored after restart and Shift/Ctrl keys do not respond

Hi there, and congratulations on the first release!

I’m testing Limux on Linux Mint and ran into two issues that reproduce consistently on my setup.

Problem

1. Workspace layout is not restored after closing and reopening Limux.
2. Shift and Ctrl modifiers do not appear to have any effect.

Expected behavior

• Workspace layout should be saved and restored after restarting the app.
• Shift and Ctrl modifiers should be recognized and affect shortcuts and interactions as expected.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Limux.
2. Create or modify a workspace layout.
3. Close Limux.
4. Reopen Limux.
5. Try using Shift or Ctrl shortcuts/modifiers.

Environment

• Operating System: Linux Mint 22.3
• Base OS: Ubuntu Noble Numbat 24.04
• Kernel: Linux 6.17.0-19-generic
• Architecture: x86-64
• DE: Cinnamon 6.6.7
• Window Manager: Mutter (Muffin)
• Shell: fish 4.5.0
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile / Max-Q, driver 590.48.01
• Display: X11 - X.Org 1.21.1.11
• Limux: v0.1.0 (.deb)

I've got similar behavior, though I'm using CachyOS + KDE Plasma + Limux v0.1.4 + fish 4.5.0. I can capitalise letters, but can't type symbols that require Shift (eg. " ! + _ )
Using bash or zsh works fine

Thanks for the update. The layout restore issue is fixed now.

For the remaining keyboard issue, this is not mainly about shortcuts in the app UI. Inside the terminal, Shift and Alt now work as expected, including word-by-word navigation, but Ctrl still does not seem to be handled correctly when editing or navigating text.

I also tested with bash, and Ctrl works, so the issue seems more specific to fish and to how Ctrl-based keybindings are being captured or forwarded in the embedded terminal.

i might have to make shortcuts ctrl shift then. what exactly are you trying to do when you say "editing or navigating text?"

thats strange. it works for me on ubuntu gnome. trying to get a fix out. might need you two to test

0.1.6 still doesn’t work for me.
I tested text editing in the terminal, and word-level shortcuts are still not being passed through correctly.
Ctrl + left/right arrow does not move by word, and Ctrl + Backspace does not delete the previous word.

0.1.6 fixed the issue I was having with Shift.
My PR wouldn't fix the Ctrl+arrow issue, since I left the keyboard shortcuts as they were. Looks like issue #12 could be a solution?

thanks @mattstainton i'm basically jsut running all the PRs through to make sure everything is maintainable and doesn't add regressions so it might take a few tries before we get it. maybe i should just install a VM.
