This is Android-x86 pie-x86 of 2022-04-15, running on an
acer TravelMate Spin B311RN-31-P5KK.
Auto-rotate does not function at all, although Auto-Rotate Screen is enabled in Settings -> Display.
On the same machine, Windows-11 rotates the screen without problem.
On the same machine, in a Linux installation, I installed packages iio-sensor-proxy, inotify-tools, and snapd, then ran
systemd enable --now snapd.socket
ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap/snap
snap install indicator-sensors.
Then the command
shows rotations of the screen as they occur.
