Podxt via USB

Hi Arteme,
I recently got a Podxt (1.01 Firmware). I had no success connecting it via USB or Midi
I updated it to 3.01 firmware using Line 6 Monkey over Midi. Line 6 Monkey won't connect to the Line 6 Server directly but I could log in and download the firmware from the site. Monkey lets you use a local file for firmware.

With the Podxt (3.01 Firmware) POD-UI works if I connect using Midi cables. It won't connect via usb.

I am using Windows 11 but I have the same issue if I try W10 or Linux (Pod-UI-v1.4.0-x86_64.AppImage)

Line 6 edit can't connect via USB either. I have installed the Windows usb drivers (v4.2.7.7)

Can you tell me if you have successfully used the Podxt USB of POD-UI?

I notice when I try to setup POD-UI manually that xt ports are showing (see attached) but I cant get it to connect except as Midi (5pin) via my Focusrite Scarlett.

Any suggestions would be welcome :)

Hi! This is interesting, to say the least :] Yes, I've used PODxt over USB on all platforms - Linux, Windows 10 & 11 and macOS. The moment I saw you mention Windows, I was going to suggest Linux, as that is the most stable in my tests, but when you say that you have tried Linux and it doesn't work, it makes me question if the device USB hardware is intact.

Using "plain USB" in Windows is a bit tricky as it requires a third-party driver, which will not bind to the device if you have the Line6 drivers installed (https://arteme.github.io/pod-ui/pages/plain-usb-without-drivers.html#windows has a bit more info).

However, if you have the official drivers installed and they work, you are really not gaining anything by connecting to the POD over USB. I see there's "Line 6 PODxt" MIDI port in your list - isn't that provided by the Line6 drivers?

PS. Forgive me, it has been a while since I touched pod-ui and my memory is a bit hazy ;)

Thanks for confirming that it should work. I suspect it to be a faulty hardware issue too.
I was hoping (it was a vain hope I think) That I could control the Podxt using POD-UI via midi and plug my midi pedal into the midi in directly. This was to avoid using routers.

I can connect to the Podxt via USB using Line 6 Monkey. It shows USB firmware v1.00. I think there is a newer version but I can't connect to the Line 6 servers with Monkey.
I can connect to the servers with Line 6 Licence Manager and authorise my Podxt device.
It shows I have Power Pack Model Pack installed but disabled! Since I don't have a licence for these I can't enable them.

I thought I would put these details on here in case anyone else embarks on this journey.
Legacy equipment comes with issues as Standard:)

Hi, I thought I update you on my USB issue. It is almost certainly a hardware fault with my unit.
So I bought another PODxt from a nice guy on Ebay and this one works fine with POD-UI over USB

I am also really pleased that I can control the PODxt via its 5pin midi connection at the same time.
I use a MP100 Harley Benton (Melo Audio Midi Commander) to control the first 1-9 Banks and 4 effect options and the POD-UI
reflects the changes just fine.
So the setup is really simple and suits me fine.
I prefer this setup with the Pod tone stack etc adjustable with dedicated knobs to the latest Helix/MX offerings .

Thanks again for enabling all of this by your work on POD-UI.
I really appreciate it and my only wish is for the ability to save and recall patches from files. (If you have a Beta version I would be keen to try it.)
I realize that you have a life and other priorities and interests. Perhaps someone else may be able to pick it up.
