Description
Dear AssaultCube Development Team,
My name is Sahil, and I am currently a third-year Computer Science student at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge (ARU). For my final year project, I am exploring the field of anti-cheat development and how security mechanisms can be applied to open-source FPS games.
I would like to request permission to use and fork AssaultCube as a base for my academic research project. My goal is to develop and evaluate anti-cheat systems that can detect and prevent malicious behavior during gameplay. Additionally, I plan to create a web platform inspired by services like FACEIT, where players can compete in managed matches and where my experimental anti-cheat system can be tested under controlled, ethical conditions.
To be absolutely clear:
- I will not develop, publish, or distribute any cheat software, exploits, or game-disrupting techniques.
- Any testing or proof-of-concept work will be strictly private, limited to my local environment or university supervisors.
- The project will be for educational and non-commercial purposes only.
- All copyright and licensing requirements of AssaultCube will be fully respected.
- Full credit will be given to the AssaultCube team in all documentation and presentations.
I deeply appreciate the learning opportunity provided by the open-source nature of your project. My intention is to contribute positively to the understanding of fair play, competitive integrity, and game security.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
I would be more than happy to provide additional details about my project proposal, methodology, or university supervisor if required.
Kind regards,
Sahil
