Erasing ZIP files (as folder) doesn't work

First I thought this is some read-only issue but nope. On the same shared folder I have a couple of files and some ZIPs among them. All the other files are OK to erase from the desktop but not the ZIPs.

I'm trying to delete N:\LANG1.ZIP. Funny thing is that I actually see the name of the disk image - the desktop's error dialog says "Cannot delete file SHDRIVER.RAW".

I think CE is trying to delete a folder named after the ZIP file instead of the file itself.

One issue is that we show the ZIP as a folder to the Atari. So the TOS is trying to delete a folder, not the zipfile

I do think we should rewrite "zip folders" support to actually read(write) into zip files without first extracting them to a temporary folder...

What do you mean we don't know? Obviously, delete both the ZIP and its folder counter part. If it wasn't clear, it's failing from top level, i.e. I click on "ARCHIVE.ZIP", not its content.

Deleting a folder is not the same thing as deleting a file :
The atari ST is seeing a folder, so it will first recursively delete all files in the folder before deleting the folder. Deleting the ZIP "content" fails as ZIP are read-only. So the ST is never trying to delete "ARCHIVE.ZIP" itself.
If you know how to do it, go for it !

In theory: we know what we are deleting (ARCHIVE.ZIP) ... so if we get a request to delete ARCHIVE.ZIP/whatever, we can just return OK and not delete anything. So, if somebody is trying to be funny and delete something from that zip -> no harm done and if TOS does it + the last step is deleting the "folder" itself -> we delete it -> everything OK. Plus then we can delete the real file as well.

Perhaps not a one-liner but shouldn't be super-hard either.

EDIT: if we wanted to be super-smart, we could introduce some kind of meta-data, similar to that .nfs stuff -- that could indicate deleted file (to fix special cases like some app is deleting files and then checking whether there is really zero files left). Deleting the whole folder/zip would delete also metadata.
