Answer: when work is genuinely unbounded exploration (research synthesis, brainstorming, interactive code assistance). Wrong abstraction when work has stakes, structure, or accountability — which is every operation that writes to a ledger.
Drawing the line cleanly gives skeptics a version of the thesis they can agree with. Prevents the framework from being read as anti-AI — its anti-agent-as-operational-primitive.
